I’m Anne Heaps, a certified Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, Lactation Educator, and former career nanny with over 20 years of experience caring for babies and supporting families. Every parent deserves compassionate, knowledgeable support navigating life with a newborn. My approach is evidence-based, inclusive, and tailored to your unique parenting style, helping you feel confident and cared for during this transformative time.
After a decade as a nanny, I realized my passion wasn’t just caring for babies; I loved supporting the entire family unit. In 2021, I took a leap of faith, transitioned into full-time postpartum work, and founded my business to serve new families better. In early 2024, I relocated to Portland and rebranded as Postpartum Portland to make high-quality newborn and postpartum support more accessible to local families.
Bringing a baby home can feel overwhelming, whether it’s your first or your fifth. I’m here to help—whether that means hands-on newborn care, breastfeeding support, recovery assistance, or simply an extra set of hands so you can rest. Postpartum care shouldn’t be a luxury; it’s a necessity, and my goal is to ensure every family I work with feels supported, empowered, and at ease.
I’m fully vaccinated, CPR-certified, and committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the families I serve. Let’s work together to create a postpartum experience where you feel confident, capable, and well-supported.

I’ve loved babies for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the East Bay Area of California, I found my way into infant care early—sneaking out of Sunday school to “help” in the nursery at age four and running a thriving babysitting business by age 12. That early passion turned into a lifelong career.
After earning my BA in Theology and minor in Theatre Arts from North Park University in Chicago, I became a full-time nanny in 2011. I quickly fell in love with childcare, especially the newborn through toddler stages. In 2015, I moved to Milwaukee to care for my first nephew. I experienced firsthand what postpartum looks like: beautiful, quiet moments of awe, nagging physical pain, rollercoasters of emotion, and a lot of diapers (so many diapers). Knowing that so many families go through this 4th trimester without support inspired me to deepen my expertise.
In 2017, I relocated to Austin, TX, where I officially trained as a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist. Upon retiring from nannying in 2021, I worked closely with over 24 growing families, supporting them through sleepless nights, feeding challenges, and the transition to parenthood. Each experience reinforced my belief that postpartum support isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
In February 2024, I moved to Portland and rebranded my business as Postpartum Portland. I am dedicated to helping local families feel confident, capable, and well-supported in their parenting journey. It’s an honor to walk alongside new parents, guiding them through these first stages with expertise, empathy, and encouragement so they can focus on what matters most: bonding with their baby (and getting some much-needed sleep!).
